One of the things I have always loved about the practice of Acupuncture is its focus on underlying issues. Of course, we all want our symptoms to abate, to go away. But if we just focus on the symptoms, and don’t pay attention to what is causing the symptoms to occur in the first place, we are missing something very important. In my Acupuncture practice, this is why the initial intake and the individual treatment intakes are so important. As practitioners, we are like detectives, looking for what is beneath the surface. What is motivating the symptoms? What is the causative factor? We then treat this underlying cause or pattern along with the symptoms that a person has. This approach is able to provide the best healing opportunity.
One of the “gifts” of this COVID-19 pandemic is to offer a Functional Medicine approach that focuses on the functioning of the entire body and its organs. It addresses the root cause of a patient’s issues by using scientific labs that measure SALIVA and URINE to determine what is beneath the surface. The results guide us more accurately to prescribe appropriate nutrition in the form of food and supplements to heal the body mind. This medicine recognizes the genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors as the great influencers of chronic health issues and long-term health.
I am very excited to be able to offer the addition of Functional Medicine to my Acupuncture practice. These consultations and subsequent follow-ups can be done in the office and virtually through Telehealth services. Please call the office and schedule your Free 15” consultation.
